How does pilamo work?

pilamo is modelled on the human spine: when you use it in your everyday life or in training, you feel resistance in exactly the right places, while your back gets all the flexibility it needs.

pilamo acts on the trigger points that lie along the left and right sides of your spine. The slight to prolonged pressure on the large musculature of the spine mobilises your muscle fascia and your joints. Depending on the type of use or workout, your muscles will be activated, mobilised and relaxed. More information about training with pilamo can be found here.

pilamo has an intensive depth effect. After training, you will notice the upright position of your spine and the relaxation in your entire back – from the sacrum to the neck. So not only can you train gently and effectively, but also ensure you activate your muscles comfortably.

How is pilamo built?

Each pilamo device is individually handcrafted. The central fabric provides good grip, feels pleasant on the skin and has a slight stretch. Tightly wrapped in lightweight fabric, the balls provide your spine with resistance, yet they move flexibly together. This is how pilamo always adapts to your body shape – in any exercise or everyday position.

Its unique design makes pilamo incredibly versatile and can replace a variety of other fitness devices. pilamo will render your fascia rolls, fascia balls, back stretchers, massagers, etc., surplus to requirement!

The name pilamo already suggests it: when developing the innovative training device, the intention was always the systematic whole-body workout that Joseph Pilates developed in the early 20th century. The name pilamo is made up of the two words ‘Pilates’ and ‘Mobilisation’. And that’s exactly what pilamo offers in a special way!

The deep muscles are addressed in a unique way during Pilates, which is so incredibly important for a functioning and pain-free supporting apparatus and musculoskeletal system. It is no coincidence that numerous competitive athletes follow the Pilates principle: to build muscle, to regenerate or to gently return to exercise following an injury.

Physiotherapists as well as Pilates and Yoga instructors have been working with pilamo in our partner practice and studio for some time, and they are thrilled with the convincing results it produces. Pilates exercises, otherwise performed without aids, are significantly more effective with pilamo; it also ensures that the muscles are more activated after a workout.
